1010 Wins - December 06, 2005

(NEW YORK) A 7-year-old girl died in a fire late Monday in the Harlem section of Manhattan, officials said.

The blaze had engulfed the room where the girl was found by the time firefighters arrived, fire department spokesman Charlie Markey said. She was found on the second floor of a six-story apartment building, he said.

More than one family was living in the apartment on St. Nicholas Avenue near West 124th Street, and police were investigating the fire, Officer Kathleen Price said.
