Two Fires Damage Buildings on Staten Island

NY 1 - April 11, 2010

Firefighters on Staten Island battled two large fires Saturday.

Fire officials said a two-alarm blaze started before 11 a.m. in a building that belongs to the Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Springville.

Two firefighters received minor injuries and were treated at the scene, according to fire officials.

A neighborhood florist told NY1 that the fire destroyed his shop, and that his pet dog was stuck inside the flaming building.

Meanwhile, a three-alarm fire in Grymes Hill started around 11:30 a.m. in a residential building, but no injuries were reported, according to fire officials.
