Staten Island Ferry Hits Dock

Associated Press - May 08, 2010

NEW YORK -- Authorities say a Staten Island Ferry boat struck a pier at the dock on New York's Staten Island, and some passengers suffered minor injuries.

Emergency workers were responding Saturday morning.

Police and Fire Department officials say they're unsure how severe the accident was or how much damage was done to the ferry.

In 2003, the ferry Andrew J. Barberi slammed into a pier with about 1,500 people aboard during evening rush hour, killing 11 passengers and injuring dozens.
