Bronx Fire Destroys 7 Businesses

NEW YORK - A six-alarm fire that spread through a row of businesses in the Bronx has been brought under control.

The FDNY says firefighters fought the blaze for nearly six hours before bringing it under control around 6 a.m. Thursday.

It says 12 firefighters suffered injuries; none were life-threatening.

The fire came in at 12:23 a.m. at 4225 White Plains Road and quickly spread to six other businesses on the commercial strip.

Subway service in the area was suspended during the blaze.
